Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the boxing community shared its support for the star in the wake of the terrible crash.
